During the autumn of 2022, Wasa Dredging was involved in the construction in Tunadalshamnen, Sundsvall, Sweden. The project consisted of mass exhange including dredging of contaminated and clean soft masses. Dredger Harald was used for dredging the soft masses and loading the rock into hopperbarge Sinann. The challenge of the dredging work was the great depth that had to be reached at up to -23 meters, this was succesfully done by changing to the long configuartion of boom and stick on Harald. The clean masses was taken out to a sea dump while the contaminated was placed at the upcoming fill area inside of the new bund.
As the dredging works proceeded the foundation of the bund construction was filled with rock to secure the bottom. After the bottom was secured the rest of the bund was filled on top up to a depth on –8 meters. For the filling works Wasa used the self-propelled split hopper barge Sinann with dredger Harald loading the blasted bedrock that the client provided. To coordinate optimal filling, Wasa Dredgings own newly built survey boat Compass was used to monitor the dumpings. This allowed precise filling of the embankment and provided up to date information on the progress.
The project was finalised in late autumn 2022.
